Yes is a sentence

Today Jinny Riat, my friend (I hope) and forever inspiration, published an article in Elle magazine. This is the first one in a regular column that she will write for the magazine. And I had the absolute pleasure and honor of reading that article several times today

Here is the article my readers, with a strong nudge to read what might be the most powerful read in a while for you! https://elle.in/trending/elle-voices-the-lie-we-tell-women-about-power-12193165

And here for you and for Jinny is what came up for me in response:

Your words fall like dewdrops on old forgotten scabs

Delivering benediction and grace

Unveiling new layers of healing

An old version would have taken the familiar path of what-ifs "What if I had this understanding each time I felt I did not fit?"

"What if I had stood up a little straighter and longer in defense of care?"

"What if I had walked out of those rooms without the burden of underachievement?"

Today I find myself owning the present moment

Reading your words and doubling up on clarity and courage

Each space that I currently feel squeezed in...missing elbow room and oxygen

I am meant to expand them with my fierce brand of care

I am meant to sit with the difficult conversations

Soothe the unexpressed hurts

Care

Feel

Breathe

Fly

Yes it matters

Yes my version matters Yes
